Thoughts

Oh what fond memories I have of you, our garden chats, your mischievous smile, your wonderful stories... and you just being you! I will miss your cheery face at the end of the garden, me legging it over our fences for a chat on your garden bench. I still remember our chat about what wildlife and birds we’d spotted in our gardens and the farm’s field, which we so often did. The competition was on when you brought out your list, much to my frustration and your enjoyment, you had top trumped me by SEVERAL sightings! I will never forget my ONE trump card on our bird feeder... a parakeet ... “damn” you said, which made me laugh. Zoë kindly shared your list with me the other day... I’d forgotten how badly I’d done ... I promise to keep up the sightings, I’m determined to work through your list now, as I have the parakeet one in the bag! I will miss you Ray, my fellow gardener companion and lover for wildlife and life, my friend.

I will miss our chats at the bottom of our gardens “Alex I see you are wearing a cap, is that to stop the pecking on your head!” - to which he chuckled “I see that you are wearing a cap too Ray!” - we both chuckled! I’ll miss him, his chats, his companionship and his wonderful sense of humour.

Ray always took an interest in everyone. He made me feel that he was particularly interested in how life was treating me and I always felt he and I had a rapport. A charming, delightful man. Steve
